Big World is developing an open source 'toolkit' of sustainable and appropriate utilities and applications to help empower ngos (non-governmental organisations) and community groups working with the poor.

It is anticipated that this toolkit, as it develops, will include resources to help in the areas of:

* networking

* indigenous knowledge

* ecommerce

* email for remote areas

* 'virtual schoolroom' for training and education

* advocacy and campaigning

* fundraising
