Development projects

Big World is currently being funded by the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID) to conduct two pilot research projects.

The first focuses on how young men and women in the South African townships of Soweto, and shanty areas of Mexico City, can benefit from Internet access from community telecentres to help them find jobs, develop skills, and empower their communities.

The second is working with two networks of craft producers in India and Bangladesh (representing over 5,000 individuals) to see how they can use the Internet and ecommerce to sell their goods and support their families.
