Summary: This paper looks at the nature of indigenous knowledge itself and at the changing attitudes towards it. The recent interest in dissemination of the knowledge is discussed, and some of the knowledge-sharing initiatives are examined. The paper goes on to look at whether it is possible or beneficial to share indigenous knowledge, and to discuss the benefits and limitations of trans-national and trans-cultural knowledge sharing.
