Computers, or water taps?

The simple answer is that people in developing countries need both – and a lot more besides. But is there really a serious choice? Don't basic needs like water and food come before technology?

Surprisingly, information can be as vital and water and food. That's because access to information and communications can actually help secure basic necessities, primary healthcare, education, and a better income from farming and other businesses.

Knowledge is power, and information and communication can give power to the powerless. The digital divide is growing, and Big World exists to reduce the digital divide, providing the right digital tools to empower the powerless and help them to improve life for themselves and their children.

Come on a short journey to a bush village in Africa, to find out how information and communication can make a difference to a farmer, a mother, a teenager and a development worker.

You can make a difference of these people and millions like them through supporting projects to give them access to the information and communications which can change their lives.
